A day after Thanksgiving. any are already getting in the Christmas spirit.

For a lot of families, that means picking out the perfect tree.

“The whole weekend. This weekend is probably the busiest. The following two weekends too,” said Rick Wyffels.

Now, that Thanksgiving is over, people are getting ready for Christmas.

Wyffels’ Tree Farm in Moline has been selling trees for nearly 20 years.

The owner, Rick Wyffels says they get people from all over the QC looking for trees.

It’s one of the only live tree farms in the area.

“We’re the only live tree farm that we know of in Moline, otherwise you’d have to go somewhere out of town to get a tree,” said Wyffels

The Christmas tree tradition starts right here in the shop. You grab a measuring stick, a saw and piece of card board and you’re ready to go out and find that perfect tree.

“The biggest tree or tallest. Like this one,” said Camden and Ambria Fowler.

“It gets us into the spirit for the Christmas season, and the smell and it’s just a fun time to come together and pick out a tree that is unique every year,” said Janae Fowler.

Janae says getting the tree is just the start of their day…

“We’ll go out for pizza, that’s a tradition for us. Then we’ll go home and put in the living room and start decorating,” said Janae.

The kids say they look forward to decking the tree out.

“We have our own like fake tree, where we have the actual presents. This is the tree we just…”

“This is the fancy tree right?”

“Yeah.”

The tree will only last for the holiday season…

But at the farm they can capture a moment to keep forever.

“It’s something new. My daughter got married in October, and I made the arch for her for her wedding. When the wedding was over, I looked at it. I said you know what, that would be a great thing to put out for people to get a picture taken by their tree,” said

Making memories and counting down to Christmas Day.

The owner of Wyffels’ Tree Farm says they sell about 200 trees a year.

He says the key to keeping the tree fresh is keeping it watered, and checking on it in the morning and at night.
